President's Message
I hope everyone is enjoying a great summer! While the ice may be quiet, we’re busy behind the scenes planning for an exciting season ahead.
We’re thrilled to welcome Ty Babych as our new Director of Hockey Operations - his energy and experience are already making a big impact. A part of Ty's role is Coach Development. If you are planning to coach in any capacity, Ty will be there to support and guide you to be the best coach you can be! As you may know, Larry Hayes has retired after many years from our Executive Administrator role. We wish Larry all the best and thank him so much for all that he has done for Burnaby Minor. Stepping in to fill those big shoes is Rebecca Chau. Rebecca had 3 kids of her own go through the program, and Rebecca has been involved in so many roles at Burnaby Minor, we are extremely fortunate to have her expertise and passion for hockey.
We have two new Executives in place - Louise Tagulao is our new Director of A and John Mak is our new Treasurer. Thank you to Louise and John, please welcome both to the team!
We have the strongest lineup for A coaches in recent memory! Every division has a great combination of A1 and A2 leadership. Those players that want to push themselves to greatness will have the support to make it happen!
We are continuing with our U9 and U11C / U13C development. This development is not "extra". This is part of learning the game and helps all Burnaby teams be competitive. I will continue to encourage all families to make it out to as many sessions as possible.
A special shout out to all of our goaltenders - we’re proud of the success of our goalie development program from last year, and we’re committed to building on that momentum this year. We have more goalies this season than in all my years with Burnaby Minor. Thank you to the goalies and thank you to the goalie families!
