CELEBRATING OUR VOLUNTEERS

What a wonderful evening at our BMHA Volunteer Appreciation & Awards Banquet.

This special night recognized the many volunteers who give their time, energy, and heart to make Burnaby Minor Hockey possible. From coaches and managers to safety staff, division support, event helpers, and countless behind-the-scenes contributors, BMHA is stronger because of you.

A big thank you to our special guest speaker John Craighead, a former professional player who spent more than 13 years competing in North America and Europe, including time with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Since retiring, he has continued giving back through coaching and mentorship, including time behind the bench in Burnaby as our Bantam (now U15) Head Coach. His remarks about the volunteers, coaches, and families who supported him early in hockey were a reminder of the lasting impact volunteers can have.

We were also pleased to welcome Mayor Mike Hurley, Councillors Sav Dhaliwal, Richard T. Lee, Maita Santiago, Daniel Tetrault, and James Wang for their continued support of community sport in Burnaby.

We want to extend a massive thank you to every single person in our Association who stepped up this season. Whether you coached a team, worked behind the scenes supporting your team or just doing a small task that makes a difference, your contribution, no matter the size, made a lasting impact on our athletes.

Congratulations to all recipients, and thank you to every volunteer who help make BMHA such a special community.

REGISTRAR UPDATE

While stepping away from the Registrar role, David will remain part of the BMHA community as a member, and we thank him for all he has contributed.

We are also pleased to welcome Natasha Breland, who begins as BMHA Registrar on May 1 as preparations begin for the upcoming season.

2026/27 REGISTRATION INFO COMING MID-MAY

Planning ahead for next season? BMHA families are encouraged to check the BMHA website in mid-May for 2026/27 registration information, key dates, and season updates.

Details will be posted as they become available to help families prepare for the upcoming season.

Thank you to the many BMHA families who have already completed our Membership Survey. We’ve had a strong response so far and appreciate everyone who has taken the time to share feedback.

Your input helps us understand what’s working well, where we can improve, and what matters most to our members as we plan ahead.

The survey is anonymous, with no name or email required to participate. Families may also choose to enter a draw for a $100 gift card to Metropolis at Metrotown at the end of the survey. Entry is optional and only requires an email address for contact purposes.
