Stix 'n Pux - November 2025

STIX 'n PUX

It Takes a Community

BMHA has rostered 252 team officials who have already completed all of their required certifications - and a few more are on track to finish before the December 1 deadline.

This speaks to the dedication of our coaches, managers, and HCSPs who give their time to ensure our players have a safe, positive, and well-run hockey experience.

Thank you to our team officials for stepping up this season. BMHA is stronger because of you!

Thank You for Supporting the BMHA Toy & Sports Drive

Thank you to all BMHA families who generously donated to this year’s Toy & Sports Drive in support of the Burnaby Christmas Bureau. With your help, we collected over 200 new toys and sports items, all of which will go directly to Burnaby children and youth who need a little extra support this holiday season.

Your kindness truly makes a difference. The Burnaby Christmas Bureau relies on community support to ensure families facing financial challenges can still enjoy a warm, joyful holiday - and our BMHA community showed incredible generosity once again.

Still Want to Donate?

If you missed our Toy & Sports Drive, the Burnaby Christmas Bureau is still accepting donations. You can drop off new, unwrapped toys at the Toy Room located in Metropolis at Metrotown (next to Winners). Financial contributions are also welcome and help support local children and families during the holiday season. For details on hours and ways to give, visit: www.burnabycommunityservices.ca/christmas-bureau

Thank you once again to our BMHA families for spreading holiday cheer and helping make the season brighter for children across Burnaby.

Welcoming Burnaby Steelers Players to BMHA Ice Times

BMHA is partnering with the Burnaby Steelers Junior A team to have their players join selected BMHA team practices and development sessions this season. This collaboration offers BMHA athletes the chance to learn from experienced junior-level players and enhance the overall development experience. It also helps strengthen connections within the local hockey community by bringing together athletes at different stages of their hockey journey.

If U7 to U15 Coaches are interested in having Steelers players attend one of their upcoming practices, please contact Ty Babych at director-hockeyops@burnabyminor.com.

BMHA U9 Development Sessions

We’re excited to announce that our U9 Development Sessions are now underway. These sessions are a great opportunity for players to continue building their skating, puck control, and game awareness skills in a fun and structured environment.

Sessions take place every Wednesday at Rosemary Brown Recreation Centre from 4:00–5:00 PM and 5:00–6:00 PM, with separate ice times for both U9 Minor and U9 Major players.

If you’re interested in joining, please contact Ally Janmohamed at u9dm@burnabyminor.com for more information and availability.

Kruger Big Assist - Apply for Up to $100,000 in Funding

The Kruger Big Assist is back for its sixth season, offering a chance for minor hockey associations across Canada to receive up to $100,000 in funding to help make hockey more accessible and inclusive.

Kruger Products will award five regional grants of $25,000, with each regional winner eligible for an additional $75,000 Grand Prize. Since launching, the Kruger Big Assist has donated over $1 million to more than 55 minor hockey communities nationwide - including eight right here in the Pacific region.

Last season’s recipient, Kimberley Minor Hockey Association, used its grant to support families in need, launch a gear buyback program, and host a free Indigenous tournament to increase representation in the sport.

We encourage BMHA families, coaches, and volunteers to help nominate our association. The process only takes a few minutes and can be done through a short written submission or quick video. There’s no limit to how many nominations we can submit, and past applicants are welcome to reapply.

Nomination deadline: February 22, 2026
